With variants you can generate different layouts of a work area and compare them with each other. This allows you to test and validate different concepts before you decide on a layout.
Create a new variant of your work area for major changes. If you only want to make minor changes to an existing concept, it is easiest to start with a copy of this variant.
You can create new variants for a work area in several ways:
- Create a new variant
Do you want to try out an idea that requires a complete restructuring of a work area?
Create a new variant for this area by clicking on the "+" in the upper right corner of the variant area of the start screen.
You will get a new empty variant where you can start again from scratch.
- Duplicate existing variant
For example, do you want to start from the actual state and try out a new idea that may only affect a few changes?
Select "Duplicate" from the "Three-Dot" menu on the start screen for the current state variant and give your variant a new name.
This way you don't have to start all over again and can make your changes in this variant without losing the actual state.
- Creating a variant from an old version of the memory
You are not sure during the replanning if the new solution is really better than the old one or you have not worked with variants before?
Open the list of old memory states via the entry "Manage" in the " Three-dot"-menu and select your preferred one and click on "Create new variant".
Now you have a variant with the old state and can easily exchange and compare it in VR with the new one.
- Import variant
You have received a suggestion from a colleague for an area that you would like to see in the interaction of your shopfloor?
Import the desired .halostation file via the "Import" button in the layout tab. In the following window, select in which workspace this variant should be created.
Select the variant you want to view on the far right of the start screen. Click on the area to select it. The area will then be highlighted in light blue.
In VR, you can load other variants via the load menu in the main menu or the drop down on the desktop to load other variants and view them directly one following the other.
Tips & Tricks
You can not only change the content of variants, but also adjust their outline. So you can determine whether you need more or less space than before, or position variants in the shop floor completely differently.
