License types
The different license types indicate how access rights for users are managed and assigned. The choice between these two types (named or concurrent) depends on how many people regularly access the software and whether you prefer fixed or flexible licensing options.
Named licenses
- Individually assigned: A named license is permanently assigned to a specific user. Only this person may use the license.
- Personalized: Even if the user is not actively working with the software, the license remains reserved for that person.
- Ideal for regular users: Named licenses are useful if certain people regularly access the software and you want to ensure that it is available at all times.
Concurrent licenses
- Flexible access: A concurrent license is not tied to a single user, but can be used by several people.
- Multiple users: Each concurrent license allows one user to use the software. As soon as this person stops using the software, another user can join the planning. This option is also known as “floating”.
- Cost-optimized: This type of license is particularly suitable for teams in which different people access the software at different times. This means that use can be shared without having to purchase a separate license for each individual.
