Planning a new production hall is a critical step for the success of your project. In this article, we show you how to efficiently use the prepared resources and design your hall step by step.
Overview
Getting started
-
Download the necessary files here
The zip file contains all the necessary elements to design a workspace in Halocline:
- The building, including offices and break rooms (architecture.haloarea)
- The logistics, including storage, supermarket, and maintenance (logistics.haloarea)
- The manufacturing area with the existing machine park (manufacturing.haloarea)
- The new assembly area with a modern end-of-line inspection (assembly.haloarea)
- A floor plan in 2D layout as a DXF file (new_building_area_layout.dxf)
-
Preparation:
Use an empty shopfloor as a starting point
-
Import the pre-built areas
First, import the building (architecture.haloarea) and logistics (logistics.haloarea)
Next, import the 2D DXF file for rough planning (new_building_area_layout.dxf)
Import the manufacturing area (manufacturing.haloarea) and the new assembly area (assembly.haloarea)
2D Template
If you already have existing 2D layouts, you can use them as a template in Halocline.

2D Layout Planning
-
Planning with work areas
- Where should the production area be?
- Where will the assembly line be placed?
Use the "edit" feature to rearrange the different areas
Detailing in VR
-
Working out details in the layout
2D plans are often imprecise, so you need to verify and adjust positions in detailSelect the area you want to start with. in this example, the assembly line requires more fine-tuning
-
Starting in the VR environment
switch to the VR view to place the objects according to the 2d layoutStart VR
-
Using the VR library for additional equipment
Explore the VR library to find equipment for the layout or add your own CAD files
Optimizing in VR
With Halocline, you can optimize your planning efficiently and flexibly. iterative work allows you to quickly make adjustments, test different scenarios, and find the best solution. VR visualization makes each planning round more precise, minimizes errors, and increases productivity.
-
Identifying needs
Use Halocline performance recordings and reports to identify improvements
Mark ideas with the drawing tool and save them with screenshots
-
Developing solution proposals
With Halocline performance, you're well-equipped for solution development
Develop ideas with Halocline layout to avoid early mistakes in the workspace
View screenshots from performance in the notes
-
Evaluating solution proposals
Test the effects of changes by switching to performance and checking the values in VR and reports
Resolve problems step by step: Halocline allows simple iterative adjustments and evaluations
Example: Optimizing Walking Paths
-
Once the layout is set, the walking paths of employees can be analyzed
Switch to the performance mode of the layout
Recording make sure to consider paths for material provisioning
Following these steps will help you design the layout of your production hall optimally. Good luck!
