With VR, you can complete many tasks right at your desk without needing much space. Here, we show you how to set up your workspace and when more room is needed.
How to Prepare Your Desk for VR
To work safely in VR, we recommend these simple adjustments:
- Use a swivel chair: This allows you to easily move in all directions, keeping an overview without needing to stand up.
- Secure work area: Ensure no objects like cups are close by.
- Space behind your desk: Make sure there's about 1 to 1.5 meters of free space behind your desk. This gives you enough room to turn around and move your arms without hitting anything.
Tasks You Can Complete from Your Desk
Most planning and preparation tasks in Halocline can be done comfortably from your desk.
- Especially for detailed designs of workstations or layout optimizations, little movement is required. You can take your time planning and adjusting everything while seated.
- For tasks that take longer, the desk is the ideal place to focus fully on planning and optimization.
When You Need More Space
For more complex tasks or realistic tests, extra space might be necessary:
- Movement testing: To simulate a work process, a free area of 2 x 2 meters is sufficient.
- Simulating processes: You’ll need more space to test workflows across different workstations.
When a Meeting Room Makes Sense
A meeting room becomes useful when you want to use VR with multiple people, such as:
- Group presentations: Show others live in VR what's happening.
- Interactive collaboration: Participants take turns in VR and interact with each other.
- Multiple VR setups: You can set up several VR systems side by side and work together.
