If you want to analyze work processes according to time and ergonomics with standards such as MTM-UAS and EAWS, you can continue to use your Halocline data in imk's ema Work Designer. You have two options for this:
Option 1: Export Halocline Layout data
With this option, you export your 3D layout data planned in Halocline as a STEP file and import it into the ema Work Designer.
This allows you to build your layouts and workstations in Halocline and use imk's ema Work Designer to describe your process and then receive an evaluation.
This option is available to all Halocline users.
- Export a STEP file of a workarea from Halocline.
- Import STEP file into the ema Work Designer.
- In the Objects tab: Select "Add object(s) from file".
- Select the STEP file of the workarea.
- Select "Load as object structure".
Current limitations
- Parts inside load carriers are not included.
- Imported CAD data, tools, load carriers and reach distance avatars are exported as a box.
Option 2: Using the Halocline / ema Work Designer interface (Beta)
With this option, your 3D and process data created in Halocline is transferred to ema Work Designer via an interface.
This allows you to create your layouts and workstations in Halocline and record your assembly process in Halocline too. You can then refine and evaluate this information in ema Work Designer.
This option is currently only available to Halocline beta users. The beta functions must be activated in the application.
- Export a STEP file of a workarea from Halocline.
- Export a report of the corresponding process recording.
- In the ema Work Designer, select "Import/Export" >> "Import from Halocline..." and select the STEP file (.step) and report file (.xlsx) previously exported from Halocline.
- Done. Your 3D layout and basic process information are applied.
Current limitations
- The extraction of components from load carriers is not yet supported.
- The starting position of the avatar is always the factories point zero.
- Parts and tools that are interacted with must have unique names.
- ";" characters in the name should be avoided.
- The position when placing parts in Halocline may differ from the placement position in ema Work Designer.
- If an updated layout or process is imported from Halocline in ema Work Designer, the adjustments previously made there are not adopted.
Notes
- Supported versions: Halocline version 2023.4.2 or newer in combination with imk ema Work Designer 2.3.0.1 or 2.3.1.0.
Tips
If you want to try out the Halocline / ema Work Designer interface as a beta feature, there are a few things you can do to achieve initial success at this early stage of the interface:
- Avoid using Halocline's own load carriers and simply build your own load carriers with boxes and place exactly the parts you need to run through the process in the load carrier.
- Give all your parts and tools unique names - even identical parts (e.g. "part ABC" and "part XYZ", regardless of whether these two parts are identical parts or "angle screwdriver 1" and "angle screwdriver 2", even if you only interact with one angle screwdriver but the other is placed in the same variant).
- When recording in Halocline Performance, don't forget to activate the "glue" function so that you can assemble parts together and then reuse the joined assembly.
- Use the input of weights in Halocline Layout - this information is also transferred to the ema Work Designer. Please see Assign weight to objects for further information.
